    Hey friends!

I am working on writing a story that will fit somewhere in the Y/A or Adult sphere that is a mystery but also a comedy/dark comedy, and Im hoping to get some suggestions of books that fit this kind of style?

I really love all of the Knives Out films and think they are a very good blend of mystery/suspense and comedy, but I haven't quite found that translated into a fiction novel that I can analyze yet.

I did recently start reading A Series of Unfortunate Events, but it is a bit more basic writing wise than I'm hoping to find. I also always see people suggest Terry Pratchet books and I find those to be a bit more absurd and abstract than I am looking for as well.

Essentially i'm looking for something that is a little more on the mature side but not super dark or absurd, but has an engaging mystery and comedy is a big part of the writing style.

    Thank you in advance!

    1. * Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle. This 100%

      * Bang Bang Bodhisattva by Aubrey Wood. Sci fi comedy with a mystery

      * What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher, comedy and horror. There’s 2 other novellas in the series that also blend comedy and horror

      * Lavender House by Lev A. C. Rosen. Maybe. It’s marketed as being like Knives Out, but it doesn’t have any comedy and I didn’t think it was much like Knives Out. I thought it was a good book, though.
