I’m not necessarily looking for anything involving ghosts or exorcisms or a haunted house.
Vampires are fine. I do like a good infection horror, slashers, sci-fi/space horror, and religious horror. I’m just looking for something that gives me a horrible sense of dread. I’ve read…
The Troop by Nick Cutter (and all of his other books,)
World War Z
I Am Legend
Between Two Fires
Dead Silence by SA Barnes
Maeve Fly by CJ Leede
Annihilation
I’m not a huge fan of King’s works. Thank you so much for all your recommendations!!

I’ve seen good reviews for ‘The Girl Next Door’ by Jack Ketchum but I haven’t actually read it
The Burial Tide by Neil Sharpson. It opened up with a woman clawing her way out of her own grave. I was hooked instantly.
There Is No Antimemetics Division by qntm. It’s very SCP, if you know what those are. Lots of monsters that do crazy things.
I really like Brian McAuley’s slashers, Candy Cain Kills & Candy Cain Kills Again are very festive options. He also has one about a health resort called Breathe In, Bleed Out.
h{{What Moves the Dead}} or T Kingfisher in general
h{{Ringshout}} this kinda involves spirits but not traditional spirits?? Like folk lore/other realms spirits
h{{Beneath the Trees Where nobody sees}}
h{{The Haunting of Hill House}}
Tender is the Fleah. Bonus points for being a novella. It sticks with you.
