My husband has devoured Project Hail Mary and I’m wanting to get him some similar books for Christmas. He’s also read The Martian and loved it. Thanks in advance!
Andy Weir, what an absolute unit of a writer.
What I’ve read with similar vibes is “Plutoshine” by Lucy Kissick. I’d also mention Murderbot Diaries, they’re not as realistic and “hard SF” as Weir’s books but the style of humor if pretty similar.

Ancillary Justice, Murderbot, and To Be Taught, If Fortunate are all excellent sci fi reads.
