Fantasy is my favorite genre, and I am quite picky in that I need for what I read to be written for adults—or at least high-level readers—and use notably exceptional writing. My favorite author is easily Gene Wolfe, and I do love the vast collection of Conan stories written by Robert E. Howard.
Doesn't matter so much what sort of Fantasy it is, though I am more partial to darker/intense elements being present, as well as the setting being reminiscent of the traditional fantasy framework (historically inspired, swords, magic, monsters, etc.).
