I finished The Torment Duet by Dylan Page a couple of weeks ago and I’m still not over it. I full-on sobbed through the last quarter, and now every time I hear that song or think about the final chapter, I instantly tear up. Nothing has come close since!!
I’ve tried chasing that same heartbreaking punch with many books like Still Beating and Under Your Scars, etc, but they just didn’t hit the same. I’m looking for dark romance that is absolutely drenched in pain and emotional destruction. I want suffering, heartbreak, and a plot that is centred around the incredibly difficult journeys for the main characters. Strong writing is a must. I need the hurt to feel earned. Adult romance please, spice very welcome.
I tend to love unconventional or bittersweet happy endings like The Torment Duet, Ravenhood, The Last Letter, Court of Ravens, etc. I’m also open to no happy ending at all, just please warn me so I can emotionally prepare.
I have no triggers and pitch-black is totally fine. Standalones or completed series only. No RH or why choose.
