I’ve had a really great reading year due to audiobooks. I listen to audiobooks when I’m driving to and from work and so I went way past this year‘s goal and knocked a bunch of things off of my TBR.
I discovered a lot of great reads and authors and did have more DNF’s than I would like in 2025, but it’s been a very nice year with my reading.
I tend to lean more toward literary fiction that’s introspective. Extremely popular reads typically do not work very well for me for whatever reason. I also like venturing into children’s literature every now and then because there are so many gems there and I don’t want to miss out.
Based on what is listed below, does anyone have recommendations for 2026?
Some of my top reads/authors:
Kazuo Ishiguro
Herman Wouk
The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa
The Correspondent by Virginia Evans
The Forsyte Saga by John Galsworthy
My Cousin Rachel by Du Maurier
Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson
Shane by Jack Schaefer
The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley
My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell (I’ve also read James Herriott’s work)
Books that I did not enjoy:
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens (I did not realise that this author also wrote a book that’s been on my bookshelf for a few years called Cry of the Sahara and because of how much I disliked this, I will not be reading that one.)
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
How to Read a Book by Monica Wood
In the Distance by Herman Diaz
The Shell Seekers by Rosamunde Pilcher
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch
