Hi everyone!
My girlfriend is looking for book recommendations with unreliable narrators or stories where you can’t trust the main character, think twists like finding out the narrator was the killer all along or huge reveals that flip your perspective on the entire story.
She loves Harry Potter but also likes Dark academia, Thrillers & horror. Feel free to suggest anything even if it doesn’t these genres.
The book can be in any format physical or online, bonus points if it’s available in hard cover.
Thanks!

These are my favorite kind of books. One of the best I have read recently is The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward.
The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd fits the description perfectly
Wuthering Heights. Lockwood is an idiot, and Nelly is manipulating everyone…
Lolita;
A Heart So White.
too like the lightning, ada Palmer. the narrator the to both lie and hallucinate liberally
In My Dreams I Hold a Knife by Ashley Winstead. Has the dark academia, twists and a bit of the unrealizable narrator.
The Remains of the Day
We have always lived in the castle – great stuff great narrator
Most of Kazuo Ishiguro’s work, The Little Stranger and Fingersmith by Sarah Waters, We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
An instance of the finger post
An Instance of the Fingerpost by Iain Pears
The Lesser Dead – vampire novel but also a New York in the 70s novel
The Silent Patient
John Dies at the End.
The narrator is unreliable, his perception of reality is unreliable, and reality itself is unreliable. It’s both very funny and existentially horrifying.
try The Priests Graveyard by Ted dekker dark serial killer style
