A book for my father. He loves westerns(films), I’d like to buy him a book about a western.
I’ve bought him a lot of books. He loved westerns as a child. A book of the time would be great. Bonus if it’s based on a true story, novels are a go as well. Any books about the Native Americans too.
I’m reading Dream West by David Nevin, pretty good read, about a real person (Fremont) mapping and exploring the West. It’s fiction, however.

*Lonesome Dove* is probably the OG of western novels. If he has not read it, I think he’d like it.
*Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee* or *The American West*, both by Dee Brown

I recommend the non-fiction of Richmond Hobson. His memoirs are a set of three books, Grass Beyond the Mountains, Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy and The Rancher Takes a Wife. I admit I’ve only read the first, westerns are not my thing, but it was a great tale that read easily as fiction.
