What are some hidden gems in terms of translated books? I love a good book but know that due to only knowing English, I am missing out on so many amazing authors.
I don’t know if they constitute as a hidden gem but books by Haruki Murakami with Norwegian Wood being one of the more well known ones.
The three body problem is an amazing work of fiction by Liu Cixin.
Blindness by Jose Saramago is amazing.
Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari was an interesting and fun read.

Pretty much anything by Haruki Murakami, but Norwegian Wood is his most grounded – it’s a love triangle in the sixties. If you want something more surreal, 1Q84, Kafka on the Shore, or The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle are all great.
If you want something darker, Battle Royale by Koushun Takami (Basically The Hunger Games before The hunger Games), Coin Locker Babies by Ryu Murakami (Two boys are found in adjacent lockers as babies and grow up to be very different) or Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by Patrik Suskind (A guy with an amazing sense of smell starts hunting virgins to make perfume from their scents) are all fantastic.
