It doesnt necessarily have to be a self-help book. Recently my mental health and state of mind has been unstable. I do not feel certain about what is truth or what is correct and incorrect or if im doing the right thing. I dont know exactly what I need either a book that talks about low self esteem, or maybe a book about anxiety or depression. Or maybe just a book about how to build your confidence in general/for work because this mentor lady at my uni said that I dont look at people in the eye.
I guess im looking for any sort of guidance really. Sorry that its vague I just dont really know what I need so please suggest anything that comes to mind.
One thing im nervous about is that the book wont take mental health illnesses into account. I was going to get "Dont believe everything you think" by John Nguyen but after looking on goodreads people were saying to not listen to this book if you have any because his main point of the book is that you should just stop thinking and start doing and thats kind of hard to do if you struggle with it. I never read the book tho so Im not saying this is true. I think it definitely has affected me so I dont want a book that doesnt keep that in consideration.

I have a suggestion but it may or may not be what you’re looking for at the moment. I kind of think it would be helpful.
The Gift of fear by Gavin de Becker.
It’s all about listening to your inner voice, listening to your intuition, trusting yourself, and keeping yourself safe.
I would recommend Marcus Aurelius’ *Meditations*. It is written in short, bite-sized paragraphs so not too intimidating. I have read it several times in my life and have always found it comforting, stabilizing, and inspiring.
