Hi, I need some holiday reading suggestions. I love fantasy, nerdy stuff, cosy crime and folklore/myths. Recently I've enjoyed re-reading Naomi Novik books, all of Dungeon Crawler Carl, pretty much all of Brandon Sanderson, all the Thursday Murder club, all the Rivers of London, the voyage of the damned, and project Hail Mary.
I tend not to enjoy most romantasy/smut just because I find the majority of a it a bit cringe/badly written, sorry. But I absolutely don't mind romance plotlines or spicy scenes if they aren't the whole content of the book. I'm also not super into modern thrillers / historical fiction about wars / very tragic endings.
What were the books you absolutely could not put down this year? Something really satisfying that left you wishing it hadn't ended?

the rainmaker by john grisham had me in a chokehold
The Raven Scholar
A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross, it’s the first book in the Elements of Cadence duology
Tress of the Emerald Sea – though perhaps you have read it! In case, two that sound the same but are unrelated: Red Rising and Red Sister.
I really enjoyed the Afterlife of Holly Chase! It’s a modern re-telling of A Christmas Carol where the MC is a failed scrooge, stuck to play the role of Ghost of Christmas Past. A little bit of a sci-fi twist.
Cozy crime: Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Ben Stevenson and We Solve Murders by Richard Osman
General fiction: Nothing to See Here and Now is Not the Time to Panic by Kevin Wilson; also loved Beartown by Frederik Backman
