To make things short, my mom is very conservative and Christian but not very worldly. She loves historical fiction like The Nightingale and Say Nothing. She can be receptive to different viewpoints so long as they’re delivered in a subtle and empathy inspiring story rather than a blunt projection of ideology. This book sounds amazing but I’m worried if it’s too plainly an “America is bad” story (despite the fact that that is very arguably the case here) she will reject the book before even giving it a chance. Any advice?
