I know it’s cliched now but the ending of A Game of Thrones and the Red Wedding left me scarred.

In the Heart of the Sea — I already had a healthy fear of the ocean but after reading this one I’m good never doing more than wetting my feet.
Isaac’s Storm — I grew up and lived in Texas my whole life and never heard much about the Galveston hurricane other than it’s the most deadly event on US soil. The details in this book and Erik Larson’s skill in delivering the information messed me up for a while, specifically the orphanage. Ugh. Still not over it.
