Hi there! For some reason I’ve slowly realized one of my favorite genres is narrative non fiction about large scale disasters. Bonus points if there’s some science or medicine involved. Some of my favorites:

-Five Days at Memorial- by Sheri Fink -recounting of a hospital during Hurricane Katrina, during which patients were allegedly euthanized as the hospital staff panicked and had trouble evacuating patients

    -Chernobyl- Adam Higgenbottom Self explanatory.

    – Into Thin Air- Krauker’s book about the 1996 disaster on Everest. I’ve also read other great Everest books like Dark Summit

-Bad Blood- by John Carreyrou -slightly different but this book is about the slow motion disaster of the Theranos company.

Looking for more in the same vein- great, exciting story telling, details that explain the disaster for a non expert, and I would say most of these books are also pretty respectful to the victim of their subject.

    Thanks!
