Looking for a Sci-fi book with no to little romance (with exceptions) and female lead and/or large cast

Hey folks! I love Sci-fi and I've been wanting to re-enter the reading realm myself, however I very much so do not like romance. It has never interested me very much.

I enjoy reading about female protagonists however a book with a large cast of characters is also interesting to me (dynamics and such).

Particularly I am interested in the concept of found family. I am interested in action and characters that compel you.

If there is romance, I'd be more open to books with gay or polyamorous relationships. Absolutely no love triangles.

I understand this is pretty open ended, but I would love to see if anyone has any suggestions.
