Hello! My mums favourite book is "Leaves of grass" by Walt Whitman, she lovvvesss this book. I want to get her another one as a surprise but I'm not much of a reader.
Shes a humanistic existentialist, the smartest person I know, isn't religious and loves how Whitman wrote.
Can anyone give me any recommendations to books with similarities to "Leaves of grass"?

Walden by Henry David Thoreau!
Maybe Ross Gay’s Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude! I too love Leaves of Grass and Ross Gay’s work has a lot of the same exuberance
Whitman inspired many other poets: Allen Ginsberg, CK Williams, Pablo Neruda, Ezra Pound, Langston Hughes, Martin Espada, Yusef Komunyakaa, and probably thousands of others with poetry collections.
He was contemporaneous with Emily Dickinson, and her work also has a profound, philosophical sensibility, despite the style being quite different.
