I’m a 27M. I’ve been feeling disappointed about me going from working a $100k/year job to a $50k/year job. I feel as though if I was more intelligent, then I would have better maintained the higher salary. All throughout my life, I have suffered disappointment due to my own shortcomings. I feel far behind my peers for the education and experience that I have. I also feel as though this job is truly the best I can do going forward. What is a good book to help me cope with this reality?

Razor’s Edge by Somerset Maugham. Not sure it will STOP you feeling that way, but it should resonate.

The Good Enough Job. I got laid off from a job that was glamorous on paper. I read this book during that layoff. It got me to rethink about the place my job had in my life, and come to term with having a less glamorous job. Now I don’t try as hard. I don’t try to get a promotion. When other people get upset about the lack of upward mobility, I feel nothing. I just try to clock out on time and just seem motivated enough to not get fired

    3. Not a book, but the reality is it’s your life and your choices and outlook that will impact your feelings and future. You are your most valuable asset and investment. Comparison is the thief of joy. Happiness comes from within. Did deep.
