I’m not joking but I think the last book outside of a school related textbook was Diary of a Wimpy kid when I was in Middle School. But I loveeeee video games that offer a sense of story and great narratives, so I thought while I’m currently unemployed I should try to invest some time into reading. I just don’t really know where to start. I almost got into an H.P. Lovecraft niche a few months back after I watched Lovecraft country but I never ended up buying a book for a reason I can’t recall.
If it helps I’ll tell you a little bit about me and maybe some of you can give me a recommendation, I plan to buy a book at the end of this week. I am a 24 year old male, lgbt (I mention this because I am open to queer stories), and my interests when it comes to video games would include Fallout and Skyrim (i absolutely love the world building and characters in these game), life is strange, cyberpunk, Red Dead Redemption, expedition 33, days gone, and the last of us. I’m sure there’s more but those are some of my favorite narrative driven games, I also love movies and shows like lost, breaking bad, game of thrones, black swan, se7en, kill bill and gone girl.
Ideally I think I’d like something more sci-fi but I’m truly open to any genre. Even mangas and graphic novels. You could recommend the most popular book ever or the book only you’ve read, it doesn’t matter I’m truly interested in getting started somewhere. The only thing I can ask is for the book to not be egregiously long, not too sure what that looks like but take that upon yourself to make that call haha.
