I am the world's biggest fan of Harry Potter and, like billions of others, my school life was spent wrapped up in those books.

Uni was really busy and I didn't have time to read for pleasure (only getting ChatGPT to read for me!). But now that I'm a yopro embarking on working life, I have time again to read! I have 40+ years till retirement of getting back home by 7pm, and having the choice of either eating my chicken and broccoli watching TikTok reels or reading books before bed. I want to recapture the Harry Potter joy of my younger days. Can anyone suggest a Harry Potter multi-book series but set in our non-magical real world?

Like Harry Potter, it should be a multi-book series featuring a character (since I'm in my twenties now, he should also be in his twenties to be relevant, so no longer a YA series) building friendships and finding his place in the world – with a happy ending. One IMPORTANT requirement: it should be set in our modern, NON-MAGICAL real world (Earth).

Reading Harry Potter was really formative in my upbringing. But now that I'm an adult starting work I'm finding that I can't just Avada Kedavra and Love Potion my way out of the soul-crushing 9-5 grind! I don't have a massive inheritance from Gringotts Bank to buy all the adult lollies I need.

Therefore, I need a non-magical series to tell me how I can become a happy Harry Potter hero with friends like Hermione and Ron in our late-stage capitalist miserable non-magical real world. Instead of Hermione and Ron, all I have right now is my stinking flatmate who leaves trash everywhere.
