What is the first book you plan to read in 2026 and why?

I have been thinking about how the first book of the year sets the tone for everything that comes after. Not just reading wise, but mentally too. Slow year or focused year. Curious year or comforting year.

For me, I am planning to start 2026 with North Woods.

I have not read it yet, but the idea of one place being observed across centuries really pulls me in. Different lives, different struggles, all passing through the same space.

It feels like a good reminder that life is bigger than one moment, one year, or one problem. I want something reflective, patient, and grounded to start the year, not rushed or loud.
