I’ve never read wicked, however I have watched the movies and I am planning on reading the book. But are there any books that have that wicked feel to it?

Like it’s not just black and white, the characters friendships are more than that and everyone’s story is much more complicated than it seems.

And everything is just like awesome in terms of world building and storytelling and the characters arcs and stories as well.

And so much more as well.

Lots of things happening, dark stuff, etc and a happy ending please.

Just books like that and lgbtq would be great, please.

Please let me know if there are any books like this and I’d be very grateful. Please and thank you and I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas Eve and an amazing day or night😁

    1. The book is amazing, and is the first of a series! However, the musical is heavily adapted and doesn’t even have the same ending as the first book. Not to discourage you from reading it, but please don’t go into it expecting the same vibe as the recent movies, or you might be disappointed.

As far as recommendations go, try:

      * The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

A standalone novel which follows the community of a traveling magical circus. It has similar dark-but-charming vibes to the musical, following some of the same relationship cycles seen in Wicked, with a very satisfying emotional conclusion.

      * A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray

The first of a trilogy following Gemma Doyle’s adventures as she leaves her childhood home in India to go to boarding school, where she mourns the loss of her mother and subsequent family struggles while forming a sisterhood of witches with the friends she makes at school. It’s kind of a magical gothic romance with a lot of emphasis on female friendship.
