Hello, I'll quickly explain the context before asking for your suggestions :

On the one hand, I suffer from a social disorder that causes me to hate and avoid social interactions (colleagues, friends, love, etc.) as much as possible, but on the other hand, I remain a “social animal,” which makes me sad that I can't have and maintain normal human relationships. In short, I HATE social interactions (and on to of that I'm really bad at it), but I need them like everyone else. I love being alone but I'm quite sad about loving being alone. Not a easy life.

So I'm looking for a book that deals with this subject. I don't care if the ending is happy or sad, or if the book is old or modern. I am currently reading Oblomov by Ivan Goncharov, a 1850's russian book which highlights this problem in a way (the main character voluntarily refuses to leave his room and avoids the social life around him, but he is still depressed because he did not have any), but it is not close enough to the subject I am looking for.

I am looking for a good author and/or character that I can identify with, and a way to cure this if it's possible. Oblomov is good but it's about a XIXth russian bourgeois landowner that I can't really relate to.

Thank you and have a nice end of 2025 !
