So I purchased The Mists of Avalon for my 13 year old female cousin as christmas gift after not having read it myself for the better part of a decade. I'm suddenly remembering some pretty graphic scenes in the book and feel like I should tell her parents that she might need to wait to read it.
Am I correct in thinking this book might be a bit much for a 13 year old? I've read that Tamara Pierce could be a good replacement, does anyone here reccomend any of her books over others?

Yes, it has more sex than most 13 year olds might have seen. I think assault also?
You might want to look into the circumstances of that author…and her husband…before giving that book to *anybody*
