‘The Director’ by Daniel Kehlmann – about real life director GW Pabst struggling under the Nazis. Which films of his should I watch before reading?

I have recently purchased The Director by Daniel Kehlmann. It's about real life Austrian director Georg Wilhelm Pabst who struggled while the Nazis were in power. (I've decided to not look to much into the history of it, so as to better enjoy the book.)

To better appreciate the book and Pabst, I'd really like to watch some of his movies.

Has anyone else here read it?

Which of his films are worth watching beforehand?

Are any of them mentioned in the book?
