A leader in my organization is receiving an award at our company's annual meeting soon. I was asked to provide a short video to be used in the introduction/announcement (along with a couple of others). She's someone I have known for years and consider to be a mentor and friend (as much as one can consider your senior leader a friend, anyway). I do appreciate and care about her greatly. She will be retiring in the next year, so it is especially poignant for me. Since I am one of a handful of people who know she's receiving an award, I would like to get her a small gift. We often talk about books, nature, poetry, the universe and our place in it – making a difference. What comes to mind for me is a small book of poetry, like one of Kate Baer in terms of size and beautiful, empowering prose.

I'm wondering about recommendations for something that may fit the bill. I may end up with a Kate Baer book, but she is still a senior leader so I need to re-read them to see if there is one that even makes sense and doesn't have non-work appropriate themes. (Though I do feel comfortable giving her something with slightly spicy themes.)

She's a big fan of Robin Wall Kimmerer, Barbara Kingsolver, Joanna Macy, Clarissa Pinkola Estes. She enjoyed the book Underland.

Would appreciate any ideas! And while I was thinking small book of poetry, I am open to other ideas!
