Forgive me for the very specific constraints. He LOVED stranger things. But he doesn’t like books where the MC is female (sorry!), and hates romance books. So for example I bought him Paper Girls (comic / graphic novel) for similar themes as stranger things, and he was not at all interested. But he did love the stranger things comic (I got him the first volume of the main series anthology). Then we went to the YA section of a book store today, and it was all romance. Please suggest me something he can dive right into that has a male MC, not romance heavy at all, and some combo of action and supernatural à la stranger things. THANK YOU.

A Wrinkle in Time is an obvious pick here, but Lord of the Rings might be the way to go. Or The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Read that when I was 12 and loooved it
