books with straight up different storylines that later merge into one setting?

Hey there. I was thinking if there is any kind of books where there might be 2 MCs or more each living in a different kind of storyline, but later they slowly merge to finish a complete story. I once heard that there is a Japanese novel like that, but I forgot its name. Thank you 🙂
