I don’t want to read soft p*rn but I love romantic stories. So far everything I’ve come across has had an unnecessary quantity of detailed intimate scenes. I understand that intimacy is a core element in how love can unravel between two or more people, but I just want to have it included in a tasteful manner.
Does anyone have suggestions for romance novels, of any genre (fantasy and sci fi is welcomed), that has a romance plot line (or subplot) that isn’t just a cringy trope and p*rn??? I know that a few intimate scenes are probably going to show up, but right now it feels like they are forced in and overly detailed. If I wanted that, I’d just go to Ao3 like in the old days.
It would be nice to read a series with flawed characters who have to experience a range of the difficult emotions associated with love, and who don’t have their lives completely engulfed by it. Basically just a realistic reflection of what it means to deal with love and life. It doesn’t even have to be the main plot line.
I do not have any triggers and will read novels that include stressful topics. Any genre is fine, but the characters have to be adults, I would rather not read about teenagers.
Thanks <3 I hope this isn’t an unrealistic ask!
Note: I am not hating on spicy books! I am just a little frustrated because I, personally, do not like reading super spicy books. If that’s your thing then awesome! Go for it! Just not me lol.

Idk if you need to read contemporary romance but in case you don’t I would recomend Agnes Grey by Anne Bronte
