I’m slowly getting back into reading and looking for something that I can really dive headfirst into. A book with great world building, interesting and conflicted characters, high stakes, and just a real page turner. I’m open to sci-fi, fantasy, horror, realistic fiction, crime, etc. I’ve recently read Dead City by Joe McKinney, Come Closer by Sara Gran, and the Scythe series by Neal Shusterman. I enjoyed Scythe the most. I guess my only request is that it be somewhat more modern, maybe last 30-40 years. Thanks in advance!

You might try the tao series by wesley chu. I enjoyed them sci fi and some time divergence.
