Does any one know any good books that revolve around language ?? I am a huge linguistics nerd but I also enjoy fantasy and mystery and was wondering if anyone knows any good books that revolved around solving a mystery using language or anything of the sort! Thanks in advance !! 🙂

Embassytown by China Miéville
There’s a reissued, older scifi novel by Janet Kagan called **Hellspark** in which the protagonist is an interpreter and comes from a planet of people who are polyglots and specialize in trading and interpreting and navigating different cultures. It’s got both first contact and murder mystery elements.
I second the suggestion for **Embassytown** by China Miéville. Like all of his work, it’s insightful, original, and well-written. Maybe it’s a little more obviously inflected by his political mindset? It brings up not only linguistics but also colonialism. It’s less popular than his other works. I liked it, though.
I enjoyed Drunk in All Your Strange New Words. Also, another thumbs up for Embassytown.
