What did you like and dislike about this year readings?
I don’t know if this hits how you want it to but I read a lot of Sarah Vowell this year. I especially loved Assassination Vacation. She gave me this overwhelming appreciation for US history. I used to find US history so drab. But her enthusiasm for it had me asking for my family to take a trip to the local civil war battlefield. I found myself wanting to go hear Lincoln Gettysburg Address reenactments.
She really just made me appreciate that all history is interesting. It doesn’t need to be 700 years old to be really intriguing. And it’s especially cool to find stuff close to you that you can go see as often as you like.
