Ok this needs background. My dad died earlier this year and I used books as a way to help me cope with his loss.
I basically read every Elin Hilderbrand book that existed. I found her books had just enough “mystery” or “intrigue” to keep me hooked without stressing me out. Before his death I read a lot of high-stress page turners but I just can’t do that right now.
I’ve run out of her books. I’ve read a few others along the way (I love Liane Moriarty and will read Mary Kay Andrews for fun summer reads) but I’ve hit a wall.
I don’t like extreme romance but do like a love story. I don’t want to be stressed but I do want to be captivated. Elin Hilderbrand’s books just fit perfectly with what I needed at the time. As I approach the 1 year anniversary of his death I’m feeling like I need to find books similar to those.
Help me!

Have you read any Abby Jimenez? I’m not a huge romance fan but I wanted to check a box in a reading challenge, so I picked one of hers (honestly because I have followed her on TikTok for years, she’s hilarious) and read Part of Your World. It was fine. I knew exactly what was going to happen from page one, but it was a fun quick read.
Alternately, what about Fiona Davis’s books? I read The Stolen Queen this year and previously have read The Lions of Fifth Avenue, and thought they were both pretty good.
Sorry to hear about your loss. Have you read any Kristin Hannah?
Nancy Thayer is quite Elin Hilderbrand-esque.
