Hi! I’m looking for recommendations based on books that made me feel profoundly seen.
What I connect to most is depth of feeling and connection, and stories that are honest about trauma… especially the way early wounds and love echo throughout adult life.
Some books I’ve really loved:
- The Secret History – obsession, beauty, intellect, and the slow unraveling of conscience
- The Goldfinch – grief, art, fate, and surviving beauty and loss; an incredibly honest portrayal of trauma and its long-term effects
- Harry Potter – especially the later books: loyalty, self-sacrifice, moral complexity, and chosen family
- Wuthering Heights – wild emotion, darkness, obsession, elemental love, and generational trauma
- The Left Hand of Darkness – identity, devotion, loyalty, and quiet moral courage
I’m especially drawn to:
- Deep emotional bonds and intense inner lives
- Generational patterns, devotion, obsession, and moral cost
- The idea of pure love and self-sacrifice
- Beautiful, serious prose over fast pacing or plot-driven stories
Would love to hear what you’d recommend. thank you 🖤
