I’m trying to read more. I haven’t read a full book without being forced to in years, let alone finishing one. I do like fiction but more towards realistic fiction. I want books that can change me emotionally and make me think philosophically with EASE. I don’t think I can read at high level understandings. I want books that don’t necessarily make me struggle but help work my mind and think of solutions to the problems of the story – like predicting the end of my favorite TV show.

    My interests:

    ∙ Cooking

    ∙ Sports

∙ Talking about life, purpose, struggle, and family

∙ Somewhat adventurous cases like solving a crime

∙ Something maybe dark in terms of emotions and/or crime shows

    – Religion

    – hardships with friends and families and emotional value of a greater thing

Honestly, I just want something that makes me addicted to reading and not endless social media.

    Any recommendations?

Claire Keegan has great short novellas, just thoughtful, beautifully written snapshots of pieces of rural (Irish) life. My favorite is Foster, but many people really love Small Things Like These (and I agree it’s also very good). You could read one of her books in an afternoon, so they’re an easy entry into reading more.
