Hello all, and happy new year.

Trying to broaden my horizons this year and read a book from as many different genres as possible. I just started getting more into reading the last few years but have stuck to really just a random collection of the more popular books with a sprinkling of nonfiction.

Was hoping to get a few suggestions from the experts to build out my tbr! I’m not writing off any genre here so open to all suggestions.

    Thank you!

*Dungeon Crawler Carl*, by Matt Dinniman.

A series of seven books (so far) it appears to be a lighthearted genre-mixing story of the apocalypse, but it steadily turns into a much deeper and more complex story as the larger world is revealed.

Lots of tear-jerker moments, but even more literal laugh-out-loud moments.

    2. The Indifferent Stars Above by Daniel James Brown is a historical narrative of the Donner party and how it happened and why.

The Deed of Paskenarrion by Elizabeth Moon. It’s a fantasy series of three books. It is older, but it has matured well over the years and I still go back for a reread every once in a while. There is a follow up series too, and prequel.

Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman. I know it’s recommended a bunch, but it is a fun read. Not a huge fan of other LitRPGs (I’ve tried), but this one is well written and engaging.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brönte for a smattering of classical literature. It has some fun plot twists if you’re not familiar with the story.

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie for a thrilling mystery.

    3. True crime: Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Unlike any other true crime you’ll ever read!
