Hi! I'm hoping to get some book suggestions – even better if you're able to give a quick reason why you're recommending it!
My most enjoyed books are usually anchored in the real world but with speculative/scifi/fantasy elements. I find myself particularly drawn to dystopia/apocalypse/time travel.

Seveneves, Neal Stephenson (or, Snowcrash, The Diamond Age)
*The Postmortal* by Drew Magary. Extremely interesting and (in my opinion spot-on) take on how a capitalist society would progress if the cure for aging were discovered and produced for the masses.
Utopian discovery, dystopian application. Super interesting read.
