Hiya,
My dad and I have a new tradition of reading a book together over the phone (we live across the country from each other) and it’s my turn to pick a book, sooo hoping to get some recommendations!
I’d love for both of us both to enjoy or be enriched by it, but we’re very different. He’s very conservative and VERY religious, so anything with sex and/or strong language is out. I’m neither of those things and don’t want anything overtly religious because it’s kind of a slog for me (and his picks are always religious). Fiction would be great but open to anything that won’t offend him!
Thanks for any ideas

The Princess Bride by William Goldman
Cold Sassy Tree. Nothing racy, only hinted at. Here’s the description-
Cold Sassy Tree is a 1984 novel by Olive Ann Burns, set in the fictional town of Cold Sassy, Georgia, in 1906, narrated by a 14-year-old boy named Will Tweedy. The story centers on the scandal that erupts when his recently widowed grandfather, E. Rucker Blakeslee, elopes with a much younger woman, Miss Love Simpson, exploring themes of coming-of-age, small-town life, love, and death through the lens of this shocking event. The book was a bestseller and is known for its humor, memorable characters, and depiction of Southern life at the turn of the century
