magic_tuxedo on January 1, 2026 10:15 pm If you only read one western in your life, Lonesome Dove is a great choice. It’s a thrilling adventure story that’s easy to lose yourself in. That being said, my favorite westerns are True Grit by Charles Portis and Warlock by Oakley Hall. Both are fantastic, and much shorter than LD.
