I am currently reading East of Eden.
My 2026 Resolution is to read at least 50 novels. I am really excited to read The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov. But it feels daunting since I have heard its satire/symbolism is hard to grasp.
I’d love suggestions for novels that helped you feel more comfortable with Bulgakov’s storytelling. 🙂

Pick up a bible and read at least one gospel story about Jesus arrest, trial and crucifixion. It will only help with part of the book but it will help.
Maybe read some nice Turgenev stuff beforehand, country life the wind playing in the birches in early spring, one loves it (and T could really write), but also don’t put those literary geniuses on a pedestal, either, you can take from them away what you want, hey I eg loved the ‘suggestion’ in Master and M for a hangover breakfast (not BSing you) hair of the dog ie shot of vody a hering pickled cucumbers etc check it out, I say!
