    👋

I've recently started reading again after a long absence (kids) and decided Christmas time was the right time to pick up some cozy murder mysteries to read.

I appreciate I've missed the boat somewhat now Christmas is over 😅 but I'm still in the mood for a good whodunnit, so if y'all have any recommendations then please let me know.

    Thanks!

    Happy New Year 🎉

    1. I Googled and found a few ideas:

https://crimefictionlover.com/2025/12/the-12-crimes-of-christmas-2025/ (the first book in this list actually mentions the first book link above so maybe that’s worth a go?)

They seem interesting/good but if there’s anything a bit more “golden age” y’all could suggest then that would probably be better for me as modern whodunnits (which those links seem to mostly suggest) usually try too hard and miss the mark for me.

The most wonderful crime of the year by Ally Carter.

Vicky Delaney has a whole Christmas murder mystery series. So does “Jaqueline frost” but I think I like the Vicky Delaney series better.

Lydia Adamson, MC Beaton, Marian Babson, Anne Perry, Mary Higgins Clark and Emily Brightwell all have several Christmas mysteries.

    7. Envious Casca by Georgette Heyer is a murder mystery set at an ill-advised country house Christmas party. Published in 1941. Cozy, not fast paced, and quietly funny.

    8. Midwinter Murders is a collection of Agatha Christie short stories, all delightful, felt Christmassy to me!
