I want to find a book set in a fantasy world, where they are basically exploring the world around them. They are interested in the fantastical creatures and plants. Makes a companion or friend along the way and they explore together. I have been searching through booktok and Reddit. I have so far had no luck whatsoever in finding a book similar to what I have described

The Immortals series by Tamora Pierce
A book that is on my TBR might fit your bill. It is called *A Natural History of Dragons: A Memoir by Lady Trent*. Written by Marie Brennan. My understanding is that it is written as a memoir from a woman who traveled around studying different dragons and their behavior. It is the first in a series. Again, I haven’t read it yet so I don’t know how well it fits what you are looking for, but it might be worth checking out! Happy reading!
Catherynne Valente’s Fairyland series, the first book being The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making.
The Steerswoman books by Rosemary Kirstein. Especially the second and third book. Rowan makes a friend along the way in book 1. They both go to the Outskirts with lots of strange plants, animals and insects in book 2, Rowan does a lot of exploring on her own in Book 3 and finds even more strange animals. In book 4 they get back together with an earlier character and find out more about the wizards.
The Memoirs of Lady Trent by Marie Brennan are all about Lady Trent exploring the world and studying dragons.
