Title. I am looking for a book that is authentic and understanding, that can help me see the beauty of Afghanistan, the region, and it's history. Obviously what the country is going through is awful, and that is exactly why we should look at its history, its culture, so that we may repair broken bonds. I am looking for a book that is not coming from a condescending or colonial background, as most books that I have been looking at seem to be.
So far "A Thousand Splendid Suns" seems good (unconfirmed), and I have heard "The Bookseller of Kabul" is not so great while "Three Cups of Tea" is a book of white gloating. If anybody has read these or similar books would love to hear what you think.
Thanks!
