After several suggestions to read Jurassic Park by my wife, I gave in and loved it. She told me lost world doesn’t live up to the original, so I was wondering if there are some books that I should read that of similar quality. One of my favorites is Jaws. Recent books that I have enjoyed are Billy Summer and the James Reece series by Jack Carr.
Not sure if including some of my favorites helps or hurts. Anyway, I appreciate any recommendations.

I humbly disagree with your wife. Lost World is one of my favorites and I consider it as a continuation of the JP ride, not better or worse.
