I'm looking for fantasy books that have a lot of fun with their fantasy elements. Magic isn't used to strike people down, but to do fun, silly, or beautiful things. Creatures exist that couldn't normally happen, but they're not murdurous villains. But also, I don't want a children's book.
It would be great if the setting was in the present or in a separate timeless world, but really anything except traditional high fantasy settings would work well.
Also, I'm not really into the "cozy witchy" books, such as The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches.
Books I've Loved:
House in the Cerulean Sea
The Night Circus
The Starless Sea
The Zamonia books by Walter Moers
