While I will forever love and cherish everything I've read toward my degrees in Classical Greek & Latin lit., I need to be reading other things, especially now that I finally have some time away from it. Will take most genres, preferably books with an enjoyable or lyrical voice.

Non-Classics books I've read that I've really enjoyed:

    • House of Leaves by Danielewski
    • One Hundred Years of Solitude by Garcia Marquez
    • The Myth of Sisyphus by Camus
    • Les Miserables by Hugo

Classics I particularly enjoy (and would recommend!):

    • Homer's Iliad (tr. Fitzgerald) — absolute favorite
    • Seneca's Thyestes
    • Aeschylus' Agamemnon
    • Walcott's Omeros

    Favorite themes:

    • father/son conflict
    • ancestral/generational curses
    • large dysfunctional families
    • cursed houses!

Greatly appreciate any and all recs! Come at me with your favorites, please! I wouldn't mind being recommended books that deviate from what I tend to read, either 🙂 TIA!
