Hello,
I am currently compiling a list of “must reads” for incoming university students — books or essays that are thought-provoking and relevant. Both “classic” and contemporary pieces welcome. This project may turn into a reader for students (obviously, excerpts would be taken from the books) in the future. Below is a list of what I have so far, divided into themes.
Any suggestions on pieces I could add?

The books you propose are mostly scientific. If you want novels too, I would suggest:
• The Passenger by Cormac McCartly
• Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes
• A matter of death and life by Irvin D. and Marylin Yalom
• The murderess by Alexandros Papadiamantis
• Woman at point zero by Nawal el Saadawi
All these books are posing important ethical questions that make you (re)think your stand points. Hope this helps somewhat.
