psychological horror?

I'm trying to find books that are a somewhat specific type of psychological horror, I'm trying to look for something where the the protagonist is suffering in the worst ways possible and there's nothing much the protagonist can do to fix this other than maybe accepting their life is screwed or embracing it or whatever, for example, Berserk, Re-zero, neon genesis evangalion. if you have any suggestions that fit's the criteria but isn't a book I'd like to know
