    I love cozy books, but sometimes the super cozy ones are a little predictable and I get a bit disengaged – I like there to still be a mystery/problem/crime or intrigue. But on the other hand, I like light escapism in a fun world.

    eg. books I like;

    Scifi – Wayfarers, Monk & Robot, Murderbot

    Fantasy – Ilona Andrew's Sweep series most of all but all her books, The Spellshop (little predictable, but I enjoyed the Enchanted Greenhouse too), Witches guide to magical Innkeeping & Julie Leong. I've read some of the others too – guard in the garden, legends and lattes. Also going to put The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett because that's definitely one of my faves. Just to add – prefer present day mysteries & urban fantasy but not always. I feel like I've tried all the urban fantasy that is well written (and many that aren't) so would love some hidden gems!

    Mystery/Crime – Thursday Murder club, Marlow Murder Club, Vera Wong, Faith Martin's DI Hillary Greene series. I don't mind Melinda Leigh's Sherriff Taggart books, but not historical crime (Idk just prefer modern day) so struggle with things like Agatha Christie.

    I'm also going to list Tim Sullivan's DS Cross series – Love crime that is well written, and the lead isn't "brilliant but tortured/doesn't play by the rules/sexist". I also appreciate a little bit less violence. Prefer my crime without romance, but background romance is ok. I like PC Lucy Halliday

    Just to add – prefer present day mysteries & urban fantasy but not always.

    I know similar threads have been posted, I have picked a few here and there but thought i'd give it a go!

      Can’t Spell Treason without Tea by Rebecca Thorne. The world’s high mage and a guard for a despotic queen elope to start a tea shop. Mostly cozy with the occasional assassin or dragon.

      Hear me out on this next one. It’s got a really strong found family vibe that makes it feel cozy even though it’s not. So a lot of action with a lot of heart warming vibes in between. The 2 Necromancers series by L.G. Estrella. The first book in the series is 2 Necromancers, A Bureaucrate, and an Elf.

    2. Urban fantasy- Have you tried Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch or Alex Verus series by Benedict Jackson? Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearne

      Mystery / Crime – Finlay Donovan series by Elle Cosimano – A Death in Door County (3 books out so far) by Annalise Ryan
