    1. This isn’t exactly what you’re looking for, but I think it has the same heart. In An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green, an omniscient spirit? interacts and confirms its presence with humanity. The book takes the perspective of a girl who finds the statue and posts a video of it online, and is thus seen as the spokesperson for the force. The book is a study of the way fame changes people, but more relevantly the different way people react to this revelation. Some people see it as foreshadowing danger, some people use it to get rich, and some people use it to gather together.

I really love the series and it’s such a good book. I got so absorbed in it and I can’t recommend it enough.

    2. SweetHermitress on

      Eve by Elissa Elliott

If you’d like something a little less traditional, The Children’s Hospital by Chris Adrian

    3. Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal, by Christooher Moore. It’s really funny and only technically heretical, if you’re worried about that kind of thing. Not mean spirited at all, I mean.

    4. The “where everyone agrees” part is making this one hard. If not for that, American Gods, Rivers of London, Dresden Files, His Dark Materials, a lot of Discworld…
