hi there, I'm specifically looking for stuff that push the envelope for what a book can be and which you can't strictly categorize as a novel, poetry, theory/essays, etc. or blending all kinds of forms and styles in an innovative way. weird typography is fun but not required, but either way I definitely mean stuff that plays with structure and form in a really out-there, unclassifiable way and makes us rethink our idea of what a work of literature can be. I've already read House of Leaves to be clear, I'm looking for stuff less "novelistic" and further down the rabbithole. thanks!!

    1. Anne Carson, Nox: a facsimile of a handmade book Carson wrote and created after the death of her brother. It comes in a box containing a single long sheet of paper folded like a concertina. It’s a collection of quotes, definitions, translations, letter-fragments, pieces of poetry, photographs, paintings, scribbles, and drawings.

    2. Blasphemous_Edict on

A short story collection called My Father’s Name Is War: Collected Transmissions.

Its not a novel, but its got a poem, a play, and some short stories that are experimental.

It’s also multi-genre and more on the weird side of horror in the few stories that blend it.

    3. AmarthielDoomBringer on

The Locked Tomb trilogy. It’s a fantasy space opera that’s also just a bunch of Tumblr jokes in a trench coat.
